Price of the dollar today, January 15 in Colombia

This Monday, January 15, the dollar is trading higher in Next Day mode, as it is a holiday in the United States due to the commemoration of Martin Luther King Day. Also, being Next Day, the day ends at 4:30 pm and not at 1:00 pm

The currency opened the day at an average price of $3,920, which is $18.62 above the representative market rate, which for today and tomorrow is $3,901.38. Right now, the coin is trading at an average price of $3,907.90.

It is worth mentioning that on Friday, January 12, the dollar closed its price at $3,893, which translates into a drop of $34 compared to the close of last Thursday, January 11 ($3,927).

The behavior of the dollar depends on external and internal factors, such as economic policy decisions made in the United States, employment data and the economic and political situation of the country.

For example, the value of money continues to show a high dependence on decisions made by the US Federal Reserve (Fed) regarding interest rates. In the final months of 2023, the Fed board voted to keep rates unchanged and it is expected that, as inflation decreases, they will begin to fall.

Lower rates, as explained by experts, translate into a more favorable exchange rate for Colombians.

For this year, the dollar is expected to remain at relatively low levels, below the $4,000 barrier. It is probable, as experts say, that the thresholds of $3,800 will be reached again. However, all of these forecasts are subject to change as global variables occur that could impact shortages, such as escalating conflict in Ukraine and on the Gaza border, as well as other geopolitical and trade tensions.

According to the experts consulted, this week the currency is expected to be between 3,900 and 4,000 dollars.
