President Erdoğan’s use of the term ‘Mr.’ for Assad drew attention

Making a statement after the Friday prayer, President Erdoğan stated that there is no reason why relations with Syria should not be re-established. It did not go unnoticed that Erdoğan used the term “Dear” for Syrian President Bashar Assad during his speech.

“WE HAVE NO CONCERNS ABOUT INTERFERING IN INTERNAL AFFAIRS”

In his statement on the subject, Erdoğan said, “There is no reason why it should not be established. In other words, we will act together in developing these relations with Syria in the same way as we did in the past. We can never have a concern or a goal like interfering in the internal affairs of Syria. Because the Syrian people are our brothers.” “It is a community where we live together as people,” he said.

HE USED THE EXPRESSION “MR.”

Using the term “Mr.” for Assad, Erdoğan continued his words and said, “Just as we have kept our relations with Syria very, very alive, we have had these meetings with Mr. Assad in the past, even family meetings. It is absolutely impossible to say that there will be no tomorrow, it could happen again.” “We have no intention of interfering in Syria’s internal affairs,” he said.

WHAT DID ASSAD SAY?

Syrian President Bashar Assad also noted yesterday that his country is open to all initiatives aimed at developing relations with Turkey, saying, “Syria has a positive approach to the normalization of relations with Turkey, provided that this process is based on respect for its sovereignty and the desire of the Syrian state to re-establish its sovereignty over all of its territory.”

ÖZGÜR ÖZEL SAID “I WILL GO TO SYRIA”

The Chairman of the Republican People’s Party, Özgür Özel, announced that he could go to Syria and meet with Bashar Assad about the refugees, and that they were looking for a basis for dialogue for this: “If necessary, I will go to the first meeting to open the channels of dialogue between Syria and Turkey, I will do it with Assad. We are investigating the basis for this. There are positive developments. We will announce it when the day comes. We are working on finding the basis. We will go and meet with Mr. Assad and convey our clear demand that he sit at a table with Turkey, and whether you call it facilitation, mediation or the main opposition’s responsibility, we will do that. Because this problem will not be solved without sitting at the table. Whatever the conditions are for the Syrian citizens in Turkey to return to Syria will be discussed. Of course, there is a political side to this. Assad needs to give certain assurances. Turkey may definitely need to put forward certain guarantees on this issue. Maybe we can put forward some incentives.”
