President Bernardo Arévalo addressed the nation in a short video in which he highlighted actions against corruption, as a work item on his agenda for the week. According to the president, a commission was established to fight against corruption and impunity.
In this context, he also commented on the complaint that his administration filed against the attorney general and head of the Public Ministry Consuelo Porras, considering that “she does not show any commitment in the fight against corruption, by refusing to participate in the calls.”

“Dear Guatemalan men and women, this week we have made progress on the path to fighting corruption,” declared Bernardo Arévalo.
The president assured that his government presented the National Commission Against Corruption, while it began to review more than 1,400 contracts of the Ministry of Communications.
“If there are anomalies, they will be reported,” stressed the head of the Executive Agency.
Arévalo also highlighted that during the week the new school health program began, replacing the school insurance of the previous administration.
“We have started the new school health program, which will provide health services to boys and girls in schools,” said Bernardo Arévalo.

On the issue of the head of the Public Ministry, President Bernardo Arévalo declared that the complaint was made for breach of duties.
“We are complying, we are fighting against corruption, because that is how we will move forward,” concluded the president.
