President al-Assad awards the Syrian Order of Merit to the Ambassador of the Czech Republic – Al-Baath Media

President Bashar al-Assad awarded the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Damascus, Eva Filipi, the Syrian Order of Merit, Excellent Class, in honor of her efforts in developing and advancing Syrian-Czech relations, and in appreciation of her dedication to performing her duties as her country’s ambassador to Syria.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. #Faisal_Miqdad, who decorated the Czech Ambassador with the medal at a farewell ceremony held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates in the hall of the Ministry’s library in Damascus today, on the occasion of the end of her duties as her country’s ambassador to Syria, said: President Bashar al-Assad decided to award the Syrian Order of Merit of the Excellent Class to Ambassador Filippi, in appreciation of her efforts and achievements for the peoples of the two friendly countries during her work in Syria.

Dr. Al-Muqdad noted the important role played by Ambassador Filipe in light of the difficult circumstances that Syria has gone through and is going through, in service of her country and in developing various aspects of Syrian-Czech relations, pointing out that the ambassador reflected with her overwhelming presence in the diplomatic family in Syria all that is beautiful in her country in terms of civilization, history, art and creativity, and also reflected the qualities of the Czech people, which are represented by loyalty, honesty and nobility.

Minister Al-Moqdad appreciated the Czech position in keeping its embassy open in Damascus during the terrorist war waged against Syria and attempted to kill its cultural heritage and achievements, noting that Ambassador Filippi encouraged her government and humanitarian organizations to provide Syria with whatever aid possible, in implementation of the humanitarian vision in the Czech Republic.

After receiving the medal, Ambassador Philip expressed her deep thanks and gratitude to President Bashar al-Assad for honoring her by granting her this medal, also expressing her thanks to the Syrian people, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and expatriates for their cooperation with her to complete her duties as ambassador of her country.

Ambassador Felipe confirmed the correctness of her country’s decision to keep its embassy open in Damascus, which contributed to strengthening communication between the two countries and providing an objective and accurate view of the situation in Syria.

Ambassador Filippi also reviewed the stages of development of Czech-Syrian relations over the past years, where a bilateral program for humanitarian and development aid was established in 2016, and is still ongoing to this day, in addition to implementing 126 projects, especially in the fields of drinking water and health care. Czech companies are now completing and implementing a project in Eastern Ghouta to provide potable water to more than 35,000 people.

The ceremony was attended by the President of the Supreme Constitutional Court, Muhammad Jihad Al-Laham, the Special Advisor to the Presidency of the Republic, Dr. Buthaina Shaaban, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Bassam Al-Sabbagh, the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Ayman Sousan, a number of ambassadors, heads and members of diplomatic missions accredited to Damascus, and directors of departments at the ministry.
