An 11-year-old girl was raped and became six months pregnant in Dasmina of Patuakhali. In this case, the family of the accused rapist Sijan Mridha filed a lawsuit on behalf of the victim’s family, but there was no result.
As a result, the accused Sijan and his parents have been charged in the Patuakhali Women and Child Abuse Prevention Tribunal. The court took cognizance of the case and ordered Dashmina police to register it.
In the details of the case, it is claimed that the 11-year-old victim of torture, Dasmina Alipura, studies 6th standard in a school. Accused Sijan often molested her on her way to and from school and private lessons. Following this, Sijan Mridha, the son of Nazrul Mridha of East Alipur village, forcibly picked her up and raped her on the roof of the Union Parishad on the way back home from private reading on November 15, 2023. After that the child became pregnant after being raped several more times fearing for her life not to tell anyone about the rape.
Meanwhile, noticing the physical change, the child reveals the whole matter to his mother. The family of the child appealed to the family of the accused Sijan but did not get any redress. On the other hand, Sejan’s family, as Prabhasali, threatened them and asked them to leave the area with the abused child. In view of this incident, the mother of the abused child filed a case in the Patuakhali Women and Children Suppression Tribunal as a plaintiff on May 26.
Accused Sijan Mridha and his family were contacted but no statement was received.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dasmina Police Station. Nurul Islam Majumder said that the police are taking necessary legal steps in this incident.
