JAKARTA – General Secretary (Secum) PP Muhammadiyah Abdul Mu’ti dismissed the issue of discussions with the central government regarding mining management permits for religious community organizations (Ormas).

“Regarding the possibility that religious organizations can manage mines, this is the government’s authority. The possibility of religious organizations managing mines is not automatic because they have to fulfill the requirements. Until now there have been no discussions between the government and Muhammadiyah regarding the possibility of managing mines,” said Abdul Mu’ti, Sunday (2 /6/2024).

Abe, his nickname, said that if there was an official government offer to Muhammadiyah, it would be discussed carefully. “Muhammadiyah will not rush and measure its own capabilities so that mine management does not cause problems for the organization, community, nation and state,” he said.

As previously reported, the Minister of Environment and Forestry (LHK) Siti Nurbaya emphasized that the management of mining permits to religious organizations is carried out professionally, through the business wing of each mass organization that applies.

“That’s how it is, the organization has organizational wings. So, what is meant by licensing is in the business wing. “So, just remain professional,” said Siti Nurbaya, at the Merdeka Palace.

Siti explained that this was the reason why the government gave permission to religious organizations to manage the mine. Siti believes that mining management carried out in a professional business manner is better than when mass organizations have to submit proposals.

“Well, the consideration for mass organizations was because there are organizational wings that make it possible. Instead of the mass organizations looking for proposals every day, what is it called submitting a proposal, it would be better to have a business wing that is neat and remains professional. That’s the truth,” he said.
