On the morning of March 1, the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Court opened a first instance trial for defendant Dang Thi Han Ni (46 years old – lawyer, journalist) and defendant Tran Van Sy (66 years old, lawyer) for the crime of ” Abusing democratic freedoms to violate the interests of the State, the legitimate rights and interests of organizations and individuals.”
At 8:35 a.m., the trial opened. During the procedures, the secretary announced that Ms. Nguyen Phuong Hang, Mr. Huynh Uy Dung and related individuals and companies requested to be absent from the trial.
Considering that during the investigation process, the Investigation Police recorded full testimony and his absence did not affect the trial process, the jury continued the trial.
Questioned first, defendant Tran Van Sy admitted that, in addition to practicing law, from August 2021 to October 16, 2021, the defendant also used Youtube to broadcast information about Ms. Nguyen Phuong Hang, Mr. Huynh Uy Dung, Dai Nam Company, Hang Huu charity fund.
According to defendant Sy’s testimony, on August 15, 2021, the defendant broadcast the content “Nguyen Phuong Hang used stimulants to curse artists for good measure”, “Dai Nam Joint Stock Company is in heavy debt, borrowing from many people and businesses”…

Defendant Sy admitted that posting this unverified information on social networks was detrimental to Ms. Nguyen Phuong Hang, Mr. Huynh Uy Dung and Dai Nam Company. The defendant admitted that the indictment was correct and not unjust.
