Popular Slovakian actor Ivan Letko has died at the age of 89

Another sad news has hit the art world, this time it came from Slovakia. Ivan Letko, the legeśvíčekanda and pedagogue, has died at the age of 89.

The sad news was published by the Drama Club Bratislava via social networks. “It is with deep sadness that we received the news today that our patron and regular visitor to our shows, Ivan Letko, has left us forever. He was not only an actor of theater, television, dubbing and radio, but also an actor of long-time acting teacher at the conservatory and university, who has raised numerous famous and successful actors,” the Drama Club announced.

The popular Slovakian actor died on Sunday afternoon in a hospital in Bratislava, the site pluska.sk wrote

“I have been given beautiful important roles in theater and on television, but the role of an old man in the series Stormy Wine brought me the greatest fame. People came up to me and wanted to take pictures, I had never experienced anything like genre first,” Ivan Letko revealed in an interview with the weekly magazine Plus 7.

“The Drama Club sends its deepest condolences to the family and the bereaved. Ivan, you will be greatly missed,” the club added.

Ivan Letko has worked in theatre, cinema, dubbing and television. In addition to his acting career, he has been a teacher at the Department of Acting and Directing at the University of Performing Arts in Bratislava for over 30 years. He married twice, had two daughters.
