Pope Francis has once again raised the issue of the demographic crisis. During Saturday’s hearing, he stressed that nowadays “anyone can have a dog, but you have to have children.” He also added that having children is an obligation because it affects the “future of the country”.
On Saturday, during an audience with representatives of an Italian association that works for the local administration, the Pope said, among other things: low natural growth and development of artificial intelligence.
– New technologies, especially the use of different forms, represent a promising trend artificial intelligence. Let’s find out how powerful they can be as instruments of death. We can imagine how useful this power would be if it were used not for destruction, but in the logic of cure, said the Pope, quoted by the Catholic news agency SIR.

The Church leader also said he was concerned about the demographic crisis. – And speaking of treatments, I’m worried about the low birth rate. There is a “culture of depopulation” that results from the birth of few children. It is true, anyone can have a dog, but we have to have children. Italy, Spain… they need children, he continued.
– Suffice it to say that in one of these Mediterranean countries the average age is 46 years! We must take the issue of missed births seriously because the future of the country is at stake. Having children is an obligationsurvive and move forward, Francis said.

It is not the first time that the pope has expressed similar opinions. In mid-November, during a hearing at the Italian associations of paediatricians and ENTs, he stated that “there is currently more demand for veterinarians than paediatricians”. – Maybe I shouldn’t say this, but I will say: today people prefer to have a dog rather than a child – said Francesco.
