Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is going to play the 100th Test of his Test career against England. Former Australian cricketer Ricky Ponting expressed his excitement to touch this great milestone of his student in Delhi Capitals in IPL.
Ashwin has taken 507 wickets in 99 Tests in his career. He became the second Indian cricketer to reach this milestone. Earlier only Indian cricketer Anil Kumble entered the 500-wicket club.
Ponting praised Ashwin’s heroics on the day of his 100th Test. The former Australian admitted that Ashwin can bowl well in any condition.
In the latest episode of the ICC Review, Ponting said, ‘He is a spinmaster in any condition. He’s become an incredible player, there’s no doubt about that.’
Ponting said, ‘I had the opportunity to coach him for a couple of years in Delhi and loved working with him. He has many theories and philosophies on the game, which I love. He always works a little differently and does things in his own way. But he continues to develop as a bowler.’
Ashwin became the second fastest bowler in the history of international cricket to reach the milestone of 500 wickets. Sri Lankan bowler Muttiah Muralitharan tops this list. Besides, by touching this great milestone, Ashwin has written his name next to cricketers like Shane Warne and Richard Hadley.
