Pommelien Thijs has a striking new hobby: making carpet. In a video on Instagram she reveals her new activity, which immediately takes on major proportions. “I’ve already wasted a lot of time,” she says.

In what she calls ‘Part 1’ of her videos about her new hobby, Pommelien explains the basics of carpet making. “It’s a process, but you’ll come along,” she says. “Do you know how much stuff you need to make carpet? A lot of!”

The unusual activity of the popular singer is not completely surprising, because in an interview with Elles she already spoke about her intention in December last year. “I have already bought a carpet machine, one of those automated things. I have no idea how to get started, but I am wildly enthusiastic about it,” she said at the time. “To be clear: I am not suddenly going to sell carpets. But they will show up somewhere in some form. On stage or in a music video or something. That’s the best thing about what I do: all my hobbies flow together. If I want to perform in a piece of carpet tomorrow, I can. That is a luxury position, I am aware of that.”
At the end of the video, Pommelien evaluates her first creation. “Was it the most beautiful carpet ever? No! Was it a freestyle carpet without instructions? Yes! Is this a hobby that I’m going to pursue on far too large a scale until I get tired of it? Absolute!”
