JAKARTA – Political Observer and Director of the Indonesian Survey and Polling Institute (SPIN) Igor Dirgantara revealed a number of allegations of fraud in the Legislative Election (Pileg) experienced by the Gelora Party. Igor said that there were three modes of fraud which contributed to the party led by Anis Matta being in 7th position in the temporary calculations of the General Election Commission (KPU).

“The Gelora Party suffered a loss because votes were removed using the ‘Gelora ballot paper’ method which was declared invalid,” said this political observer from Jayabaya University at the Kahwa Cafe, Jakarta, Sunday (10/3/2024).

One method of cheating occurs when voting at a polling station (TPS). In qualitative research conducted by the SPIN institution after the voting on February 14 2024, there were findings of alleged fraud involving party elements with the help of unscrupulous organizers in the Voting Organizing Group (KPPS).

Second, it occurs at the level of the recapitulation process at the sub-district or district level. Allegedly there are indications of possible vote inflating by elements of other political parties. “Therefore, the Gelora Party needs to maximize its existing team of witnesses to oversee every recapitulation at the District Election Committee (PPK) and district or city Regional General Election Commission (KPUD) levels,” he explained.

Third, the alleged black market practice of buying and selling syndicated votes. Like the phenomenon of buying and selling votes by inflating votes from other political parties. Igor assesses that several parties, through individual legislative candidates, are suspected of often using KPPS officers, so that the process of transferring invalid votes to other legislative candidates or transferring the votes of certain legislative candidates to legislative candidates from other parties is a method usually used by KPPS elements.

As is known, the Indonesian People’s Wave Party (Gelora) discovered allegations of fraud that had the potential to harm the party’s votes. As happened during the plenary meeting of vote counting at the Tangerang City level which was held at the Days Hotel, Tangerang City, Banten, March 6 2024.

According to the district/city level witness for the Indonesian Gelora Party, during the process of examining electoral district 3 of Cipondoh District, it was found that data on the Tangerang City DPRD candidate from Gelora in the name of Nadine Tarizza lost 6 votes, from 365 to 359 votes. Apart from that, the sole candidate for the Banten Province DPRD for the Tangerang 8 electoral district, Indra Kurniawan, also lost 10 votes. Indra’s vote was reduced from the original 155 to 145.

“The KPU’s Sirekap, which currently only displays the model C form with plano results, is also considered confusing. Therefore, the KPU must repair and clean up the Sirekap whose data is out of sync, so that it can display data that is closer to a more real and transparent data portrait,” he explained. .

“Several parties, through individual legislative candidates, often hold KPPS officers, so the process of transferring invalid votes to other legislative candidates or transferring the votes of certain legislative candidates to legislative candidates from other parties is a method usually used by KPPS elements,” he concluded.
