WhatsApp, the instant messaging platform with the most users in the world, has accustomed us to its constant updates. But for these improvements to work correctly and optimally, the devices on which the app is installed must have sufficient resources.
For this reason, every month, the Meta app announces the list of smartphone brands and models for which it will stop providing support and updates to its service.

Why does WhatsApp stop providing support for these smartphone models?
To keep the application safe, WhatsApp constantly needs to install updates that improve the service and the platform. Furthermore, they allow you to avoid problems during its operation and hackers from accessing accounts to steal data.
Many of these security updates cannot be installed on phones running older operating systems, leaving the device exposed to possible attacks by cyber criminals.

For these reasons, WhatsApp has decided to no longer provide support for its platform when it is installed on smartphones with OS that do not have the minimum security measures for the correct functioning of its application.
Will the application no longer be accessible?
Just because WhatsApp stops providing support doesn’t mean the app stops working or that you can’t access your chats and contacts. But for the reasons mentioned it is not advisable to continue using it and WhatsApp directly suggests uninstalling it from those mobile phones.
In any case, we always recommend checking the models of your devices to ensure you can install the most recent version of the app. And if you can’t update it, another tip is to make a backup copy to be able to possibly migrate your data to another smartphone.
