During the afternoon of this Sunday, March 3, 2024, two pick-up accidents were attended to by paramedics from the Guatemalan Red Cross on two roads in the country. The balance of both accidents was one man dead and two people injured.
The first accident occurred at kilometer 180 of the CA-2 highway, where a pickup truck collided with a tree. In the accident, the driver’s left door was left against the wood, claiming the driver’s life.

After several hours of work in the picket, the Guatemalan Red Cross personnel managed to extract the victim’s body; however, she was not identified.
Agents from the National Civil Police (PNC) and the Public Ministry arrived at the scene, in San Sebastián Retalhuleu, to carry out the investigations.
Meanwhile, at kilometer 169 of route CA-14, jurisdiction of Purulhá, Baja Verapaz, another cargo vehicle hit a wall.
Paramedics worked in the area to stabilize the two occupants, who suffered minor injuries and did not need to be taken to a medical center.
Furthermore, the occupants of this second pick-up suffered a nervous breakdown after the collision.

Accidents with pick-up did not generate congestion
The emergency services did not report that traffic congestion occurred in these incidents.
The accident where one person died, the pick-up truck was left outside the asphalt strip.
