Former player Thanh Luong joined the Hanoi Police team as an assistant to coach Kiatisak.
On the evening of March 19, the Hanoi Police Club homepage officially announced the new assistant coach Pham Thanh Luong. This is considered a new step in the career of the former famous player born in 1988.
“During his time as a player, Pham Thanh Luong achieved countless club-level titles as well as the 2008 AFF Cup championship with the Vietnam national team.
Before becoming coach Kiatisak’s right-hand man, the former Vietnam team player once led the Hoa Binh club to compete in the First Division,” the Hanoi Police team wrote.

Pham Thanh Luong had his first try as a coach when he led Hoa Binh – a team that has been playing in the First Division since September 2023.
On March 13, the former midfielder of the Vietnamese team said goodbye to the Northwest team after more than 6 months of coaching. After just a few days, he joined the police football team as an assistant coach.
When he was still playing, Pham Thanh Luong was the most successful player of his generation when the former midfielder won 4 Vietnam Golden Balls within 7 years, from 2009 to 2016.
He is also a rare case in Vietnamese football who has just retired and moved to lead a professional club without doing youth training.
Therefore, becoming coach Kiatisak’s assistant at the Hanoi Police team will help Pham Thanh Luong have more opportunities to learn and gain experience in his coaching career.
Currently, Hanoi Police are ranked 3rd in V.League 2023-2024 after 13 rounds with 22 points, 7 points behind top team Nam Dinh.
