Petr Čech uncovered a family tragedy that he kept silent about for years: Why did he deny his brother?

Time will heal all pain. The legendary football goalkeeper Petr Čech (42) has always talked about his family as having five members, but now he talked about the fact that he had a brother Michal (†2) in addition to two sisters on the CT program Hyde Park Civilizace.

The year was 1982, and on May 20, Mrs. Libuše gave birth to triplets in the maternity hospital in Pilsen. “We were supposed to be twins, but we were born three. First, Michal, whom the doctors missed on the ultrasound,” revealed Petr Čech in Hyde Park, when he and moderator Daniel Stach were sitting on chairs right next to the Letná playground. There, in the 2001/2002 season, the “Czech Republic” spent a season with Sparta as a teenager, and after that, he went out into the world, where he became “Big Pete”.

He was born healthy

“Michal was born healthy. But then he got a serious illness, meningitis, and died at the age of two.” he described a family tragedy after forty years, about which he deliberately kept silent. “I never mentioned it. I took it as a protection for the parents that it doesn’t have to be seen anywhere. It would pop up somewhere and flounder with every transfer. I’ve always said I’m a twin. I was left with Šárka, my sister. It’s never been easy for parents to cope with that loss.” he explained.

He lost his brother, he has two sisters. In addition to Šárka, who has the same date of birth on the birth certificate, there is also Markéta. “She is four years older and she also played sports, played handball. She was an important part of the family when she was older, helping her parents a lot.” Czech said.

Priske's departure: Rosicky wants one more year. What about the Friis move and the clause?

Years later, Petr Čech admitted that he was not a twin, as he claimed, but three siblings were actually born on May 20, 1982.
