Péťa (7) fell under the tractor: A broken heart and a fight for his life!

Péta wanted to enjoy his vacation in the village. The grandparents have a large farm full of animals that the schoolboy from the city does not know. And because the grass needed to be cut and dried, and because the farm is big, grandpa has a smaller tractor for that. “Péta sits next to grandpa on the fender and we drive. Country Classic,” describes Marek Dvořák, who often shares information on first aid and advice on how to prevent life-threatening situations on Instagram.

But the tractor drove through a depression, jumped over, and grandfather noticed that Péťa had disappeared. He found him lying a few meters behind the tractor. The boy was shocked, and on the white T-shirt of the 30-kilogram child, the grandfather saw a print strikingly resembling the tire pattern on the back wheel of a tractor. Marek Dvořák described the understandable panic, anxiety and fear of a grandfather for the life of his beloved grandchild. An ambulance is immediately called… The rescue helicopter also takes off.

Broken heart

“For serious trauma, we try to spend as little time as possible on the scene, because even if it is necessary, we do not perform abdominal surgery in the field. It’s about time. We briefly say hello to our colleagues from the ground crew, who have already secured the vein, the little patient is scared, we caress his face, calm him down, give him painkillers, load up and take off again within 7 minutes of landing… A large team is already waiting for us in the trauma center.” describes Dvořák’s intervention.

Little did he know that he and Péta would unexpectedly have to take off again! “This is a request for further transport – Péťa has a ruptured part of his heart and needs an urgent operation by a pediatric cardiac surgeon in cardiopulmonary bypass,” describes the paramedic.

A scar remains

The operation was long. It was also a long wait to see how it would turn out… This story has a happy ending in the end. “Péta is spending the end of the holidays at home and resting so that he can go to the second grade with his briefcase in September. He will brag to his classmates about a lot of new experiences and also one mega-thick scar on his chest.” concludes Marek Dvořák.
