Florentino Pérez, president of the Spanish football club Real Madrid, has decided on the departure of Moroccan international Brahim Diaz, after his remarkable brilliance during the last football season and his contribution to winning the Champions League, La Liga and Spanish Super Cup treble.
According to the “Defensa Central” website, which is close to the “Royal Team,” Perez decided to raise Diaz’s salary in the coming period, after convincing the club’s management of his great football potential.
According to the same source, Diaz’s salary currently exceeds 7 million euros, and it is scheduled to be raised until he enters the list of the highest-paid players in “Merengue.”
Diaz played the role of the 12th player in the team, as he was the most important substitute for the Italian coach, who said in a previous press conference that Ibrahim deserved to play a greater number of minutes.
The Spanish newspaper “Marca” explained that Diaz is considered the most prominent candidate to win the African Ballon d’Or this year, as he will be the first player in the history of Real Madrid to win the best personal football award in the “African Continent.”
The newspaper pointed out that Diaz had a great football season compared to a number of African players, which brought him closer to winning the award launched by France Football magazine in 1970, knowing that it now officially belongs to the Confederation of African Football since 1992.
Ibrahim Diaz participated in 45 matches this season with Real Madrid, in which he scored 12 goals and made nine assists. The Moroccan star’s contract with Real Madrid extends until June 30, 2027.
