People join forces to catch a giant python weighing 100kg

The python’s fate after being captured is still unknown, but it will likely be killed to prevent it from eating pets or even villagers.

The python in the clip was identified as a reticulated python, also known as a reticulated python. This is the longest reptile in the world today, with an adult length that can reach more than 6m, sometimes 8 to 9m long, but quite rare. When mature, this python can weigh from 150 to 270kg, lighter than the green anaconda living in South America.

Reticulated pythons are found throughout Southeast Asian countries, living in many different environments, from jungles, swamps, canals to even large cities, causing them to often clash with humans.

The food of reticulated pythons includes birds and animals such as rodents, primates, pigs, deer, etc. In addition, reticulated pythons can also eat dogs, cats, and chickens in residential areas.

Like other python species, reticulated pythons are non-venomous and hunt by wrapping their bodies around their prey and squeezing them to death. Although not venomous, reticulated python bites cause heavy bleeding and can cause serious infections because this python’s mouth contains many dangerous bacteria.

The reticulated python is an aggressive python, ready to attack humans when agitated or feeling threatened. Many cases of reticulated pythons attacking and eating humans have been recorded.

Most recently, on June 7, the body of a 54-year-old woman was found inside the belly of a reticulated python more than 5 meters long in Sidenreng Rappang district, South Sulawesi province, Indonesia. This woman was determined to be attacked and eaten by a python while she was working in her family’s field.
