Pension Fund advances in San Lázaro

According to the endorsed opinion, proposed by Morenistas Ignacio Mier and Ivonne Cisneros, the money from said fund will be used to complement pensions of workers who receive less than 17 thousand pesos.

In the document, which will be discussed in plenary session – where it does not require a qualified majority for its approval – it is detailed that the new Pension Fund for Wellbeing will also have resources from the income that corresponds to the pension agreements. administrative collaboration in fiscal matters concluded between the Federation and the states, as well as for the amounts paid for tax credits made by entities or municipalities, and the remainders resulting from the liquidation process of Financiera Rural.

Once approved in the plenary session of Deputies, the reform will go to the Senate, where it is expected that Morena, PT, PVEM and PES support it.

KEEP IT UP ‘AGANDALLE’ IN AFORE MONEY

With 19 votes from Morena, Verde and PT in favor and 10 votes against from the opposition, the Social Security Commission of the Chamber of Deputies approved the reform that will use the unclaimed savings of the Afores, belonging to older workers
70 years of age, to join the new Pension Fund for Wellbeing.

Morenoist representative Ivonne Cisneros, president of the Commission and co-author of the reform, explained that “the resources of this trust will be, in accordance with the proposal that is being made, made up of different sources of income. One of them has to do with the inactive accounts found in the Afores and which range in an approximate amount of 40 billion pesos, of the six billion pesos managed by the fund managers.”

The PAN and PRI members argued that the ruling has inaccuracies and legal contradictions, which do not guarantee the workers or their beneficiaries to recover their money.

René Figueroa, from the PAN, highlighted that “if we are discussing this ruling today, it is not because we are against the workers, it is because we are against Morena wanting to steal the workers’ money, that Morena wants to get their hands on them. to the workers’ money.”

Ignacio Mier, leader of the federal deputies of Morena and co-author of the reform, responded that a “solidarity compensation fund is intended, which does not affect any rights or rob anyone and let’s not get confused; “Let us not confuse the political practice of debate in an electoral process with the need for social justice, to guarantee the workers of Mexico a decent pension.”

The Social Security Commission of the Chamber of Deputies discussed for about two hours the reform proposal presented by Ignacio Mier, coordinator of the federal deputies of Morena and Ivonne Cisneros, president of the Commission itself, so that the new Pension Fund for Wellbeing also has resources from the income that corresponds to the administrative collaboration agreements in federal fiscal matters concluded between the Secretariat and the federal entities, in terms of the Fiscal Coordination Law.

Also for the amounts paid for their own federal tax credits made by the states, their municipalities or any of their public entities; the remaining resources resulting from the conclusion of the liquidation process of the National Financial Institution for Agricultural, Rural, Forestry and Fisheries Development.

While the Morena, PT and Greenecologist deputies stated that this is a noble reform, which seeks to support the workers, the opposition, made up of deputies from the PAN and PRI, who were the only ones who spoke, accused Morena and the government of stealing workers’ money and promoting a reform that lacks legal certainty, including annulling the right of workers to resort to judicial proceedings to defend their savings.

The ruling party responded that the opposition is a liar, that it is not true that they intend to steal the workers’ money and that the objective is to benefit more Mexicans, with money that is no longer claimed by the owners, but that at any time can do it; Given this, the opposition highlighted that the reform lacks the legal framework to give certainty to workers that they can recover money that has already gone to the new pension fund.

After approval, the opinion will go to the plenary session.

IMSS SAYS THAT ACCOUNTS ARE UNTOUCHABLE

The individual accounts of the Afores are untouchable and inexpropriatable, said the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS).

The objective of the pension reform is to protect workers’ savings in Afores and guarantee that when they retire they obtain 100% of their last average salary registered in Social Security or the Institute of Security and Social Services of State Workers (ISSSTE).

This is how Iván Pérez Negrón, head of the IMSS Economic Benefits and Occupational Health Unitpointing out that the reform “is not a small improvement, it is a fundamental pillar of something much larger than a constitutional reform in order to consolidate, modernize and make the social security system fairer and stronger.”

The official indicated that the current reform initiative presented in the Chamber of Deputies “strengthens what was reflected in the law in 2020, which is the imprescriptibility of resources, people can go and claim them, whether they are 70, 80 or 90 years old. Even if the worker dies, his legal beneficiaries can request a refund.”
