A 45-year-old Elvis Presley impersonator from Michigan is facing charges after allegedly engaging in sex crimes against minors.
The U.S. Attorney’s office for the Western District of Pennsylvania announced on February 23 that a federal grand jury has indicted Matthew Chantelois on three counts related to the interstate sexual exploitation of minors, truecrimedaily.com reports.
“Incited and enticed a minor”
According to the indictment, in October 2023 and around January 2024, Chantelois allegedly “used, persuaded, induced and enticed a minor to engage in a sexual act.” In addition, Chantelois is charged with “possession and transportation of child sexual abuse material in interstate commerce.”
According to a report obtained by WDIV-TV, on Jan. 24, around 4 a.m., authorities arrested Chantelois at a motel in Summit Township, Pennsylvania, after he was caught with a 16-year-old girl. The girl had run away from her home in New York.
The victim allegedly told police she met Chantelois on social media and he gave her vodka. They also allegedly exchanged nude photos.
Court records show Chantelois was arrested on charges of interference with child custody, corruption of minors and sale/furnishing of alcohol to a minor.
His bail was set at $100,000.
If convicted, Chantelois faces 15 to 60 years in prison, a fine of up to $750,000, or both. The defendant appears as an Elvis impersonator under the name ‘Matt King’.
According to his website, he is “one of the world’s leading Elvis impersonators” and has won dozens of competitions.
