A legislative delegation from Taiwan, led by the vice president of its Congress, Johnny C. Chiang, held a working meeting this Wednesday with President Santiago Peña in Mburuvicha Róga. The meeting was part of the cooperation agenda that both countries have been developing and made it possible to review new areas to expand the bilateral relationship.
Peña later explained that the conversation focused on promoting projects that aim at greater commercial exchange, attracting investments and technical cooperation, as well as cultural initiatives that strengthen the link between both societies. The president assured that there is full harmony to advance actions that directly impact the quality of life of citizens.
The Taiwanese mission is made up of seven parliamentarians from the main political parties of the Asian country, which reinforces the institutional nature of the visit. Representatives of the Kuomintang (KMT), the Democratic Progressive Party (PDP) and the Taiwan People’s Party participate, all members of parliamentary associations linked to cooperation with Latin America.
The president highlighted that the friendship between Paraguay and Taiwan has been consolidated over decades and that both governments maintain common objectives in terms of development and democratic governance. According to him, meetings of this type confirm the will to continue building a long-term strategic alliance.
