Pedro Sienna Extemporaneous Prize

Applications for the Pedro Sienna Extemporáneos Awards will be open until October 15, a recognition from the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage that will be given to national audiovisual works that have been commercially released or publicly communicated in movie theaters across the country during the years 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023. It also considers those who have participated creatively or technically in any of the stages of the making of the films and whose contribution stands out for its originality, creativity, artistic and/or technical quality and projection, in one or more of the 18 categories in competition.

Audiovisual works can only be nominated by the producer or legal representative. The award is divided into 18 categories and consists of one statuette for each category.

o Best feature film in the animation genre
o Best feature film in the documentary genre
o Best script in the fiction, animation and documentary genres
o Best short film
o Best female leading performance
o Best male leading performance
o Best supporting female performance
o Best supporting actor
o Best direction
o Best art direction
o Best Photography Direction
o Best costume design
or Best makeup
o Best special effects
or Best editing
o Best original music
o Best sound design

Short or medium-length films of fiction, animation and documentary genres, as well as feature-length documentaries, may be exempt from proving their commercial release or public communication in movie theaters in the country, by proving their participation in at least one audiovisual festival held in the national or foreign territory in the period indicated in each call.

Voting will be in charge of the members of the Chilean Film Academy. Each winner of the aforementioned categories will receive a Pedro Sienna statuette, made by national sculptor Cristina Pizarro.
