peak light at over 3,000 nits according to Samsung Display

In a press release that brings together the different technologies presented at CES in Las Vegas 2024 which opens its doors tomorrow, published a few hours ago, the Samsung Display company announces that the peak light of its third generation of QD Oled TV panels reaches more than 3,000 nits.

Remember, several weeks ago, we announced peak light around 3,000 nits for LG Display’s new Oled MLA panels (see our news at CES 24 > Oled TV LG C4 and LG G4: 144 Hz and 3,000 nits in the menu…). Since then, LG has only specified the performance of its MLA panels in its LG G4 and LG M4 televisions equal to +150% of that of its Oled EX panels present in the LG B4 broadcasters, without specifying the data (let’s wait for tomorrow’s press conference, LG may decide to propose a number).

Third generation QD Oled TV, peak light at +3,000 nits

For its part, Samsung Display does not hesitate and announces that the latest generation of QD Oled panels, expected for example for the next Samsung S95D televisions, is capable of displaying a peak light of more than 3,000 nits. The Korean company very precisely states the following statement in its press release: “ The TV panel has been updated with the brighter third-generation QD OLED technology, which will be showcased at CES. This new version uses advanced panel control technology and artificial intelligence (AI) to achieve a peak brightness of over 3,000 nits ».
