At this crucial stage of the peace process, a sincere approach from Yerevan is necessary to achieve concrete results.
Publika.az Elchin Amirbeyov, representative of the President of Azerbaijan on special tasks, said in an interview to “The Guardian”.
He noted that Baku, which handed over the final version of the text of the peace agreement to the Armenian side last week, is now waiting for a response to its proposals from Yerevan.
According to him, Armenia should fully understand all the benefits of signing a peace agreement with Azerbaijan, as well as abandon all harmful illusions and tricks aimed at disrupting the peace process and returning to military conflict with our country.
Noting the five main principles that form the basis of the draft peace agreement prepared by Baku, the representative of the President also said that the issue of defining borders can be resolved at a later stage, taking into account its complexity and time-consuming nature.
E. Amirbeyov, in his answer to the question about the mechanism for resolving disputes between the parties after the signing of the peace agreement, emphasized that Azerbaijan prefers the idea of establishing a bilateral Armenian-Azerbaijani Commission without any outside interference in this matter: “As for the provision of transport connections between the main part of Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan, Baku evaluates this issue not only in the context of creating an alternative route for the Middle Corridor connecting China with Europe, but also as an important element of ensuring its national security.
E. Amirbeyov stressed that the unfolding events show that Baku is not going to waste more time after waiting for a clear answer from Armenia for three years: “If Armenia cannot understand its benefit in the creation of the Zangezur Corridor, it is still absurd about the alleged aggression of Azerbaijan against it. if it intends to continue spreading the rumors and resist the regional stalemate, Azerbaijan has already taken concrete action and started to implement “Plan B” by giving priority to the creation of the above-mentioned transport links from the territory of neighboring Iran.
