PCB released a press release yesterday mentioning the removal of Shaheen Afridi from the leadership. It is said that Shaheen Afridi has been removed from the captaincy to reduce the workload; So that he can perform at his best.
The same press release carried a statement quoting Shaheen Afridi. Shaheen said that PCB mentioned this statement as Shahin’s but he did not make any such comment and did not approve the comment.
The statement read, ‘It was an absolute honor for me to captain the Pakistan national cricket team. I will always cherish these memories and opportunities. My responsibility as a team player is to support captain Babar Azam. I have played under his captaincy and have nothing but respect for him. I will try to help him on and off the field. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi will soon go to Kakul Academy to resolve the matter. He will discuss with Shaheen Afridi who is training there.
