Paul Nicholson is convinced: “If Luke Littler becomes world champion, he must play in the Premier League Darts”

Luke Littler is already the sensation of the World Darts Championship. The 16-year-old Englishman immediately reached the semi-finals on his debut.

Littler was too strong for Brendan Dolan in the quarter-final 5-1 on New Year’s Eve. Rob Cross awaits him in the semi-final. “He’s doing great,” said Paul Nicholson, himself a former World Cup quarter-finalist. “He brings something extra to the World Cup and it will be difficult to stop him from winning the world title.”

The call is growing louder to invite Littler to the Premier League Darts this year. “If he becomes world champion, he has to participate, there can be no doubt about that,” says Nicholson.

“Yes, the media will explode and there will be a lot of criticism towards him, but a Premier League Darts without a world champion is simply unthinkable.”

What if he doesn’t become world champion? “Then I wouldn’t invite him to the Premier League Darts. I would advise him to take a month off after the World Cup, go on holiday and spend some time with his family so that he can be fully rested and ready for the tournaments that they are arriving.”
