VPR Nathan, a Malaysian air traffic controller and instructor, assigned to the International Civil Aviation Organization’s Asia-Pacific regional sub-office in the Chinese capital; Beijing. And he had not seen his wife, Anne Daisy (56), for two months.
“I’ll be back for Christmas,” the 67-year-old was quoted as recalling Channel News Asia, Thursday (7/3/2024). “Then he wanted to come and spend a week in Beijing to be with me.”
He booked a seat in Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 or MH370 on March 8, 2014.
The plane took off from Kuala Lumpur airport to go to Beijing, but never arrived at its destination.
“I got a WhatsApp message from my wife before she left. He was already at the airport, sending messages and so on,” Nathan recalled.
“Because the flight was at 1 am, I think I was asleep before the plane left.”
He woke up in the morning and headed to the airport. When he arrived, his flight information was not displayed. “The Malaysia Airlines staff there didn’t have any information about… what time the flight departed,” he said.
“I was already feeling a little worried that something was wrong. Then I sat there, at that time I was very emotional because…,” continued Nathan who was silent.
