Parents are crying for the only son, stop eating and drinking – 2024-03-15 11:43:32

Sabbir Hussain of Tangail is one of the 23 sailors of the MV Abdullah ship that was captured by pirates in the Indian Ocean. He is the only son of Harunur Rashid and Saleha Begum of Danga Dhalapara village of Sahabatpur union of Nagarpur upazila of the district.

Father Haroon Or Rashid is crying after hearing the news of his only son being taken hostage. Mother Saleha Begum clutching her chest is crying and lamenting. Relatives demand that all the hostages including Sabbir should be rescued quickly.

Family members said Sabbir passed SSC from Sahabatpur High School in Nagarpur in 2014. After passing HSC from Kagmari MM Ali College, Tangail in 2016, he was admitted to Chittagong Marine Academy. After passing from there, Sabbir joined the MV Abdullah ship as a merchant officer in June 2022.

Sabbir’s cousin Ahmed Hossain Rana said that the Sabbirs are one brother and one sister. He studied very hard. Sister got married. His father was a farmer. Currently paralyzed due to brain hemorrhage and bedridden. Sabbir is the sole earner of the family. If something happens to him, they will have no way to go.

Sister Mitu Akhter said, ‘My brother uploaded on Facebook on Monday (March 11) afternoon that I crossed the equator. Shaved his head and uploaded the picture. He came home a month ago. Gone since one day. His mobile is found to be switched off since Tuesday morning. After hearing the news that the MV Abdullah ship was captured by pirates at noon, everyone is spending the day in fear. Parents have stopped eating and drinking. They are just crying and saying, bring my son. Parents cannot be saved if something happens to my only brother.’

In this regard, the Chairman of the Union Parishad, Tofail Ahmed Molla, said, “I have come to console the family of the kidnapped sailor Sabbir.” Senior officials at the Marine Academy have also continued to communicate with his family. We want the help of the government to quickly bring back the kidnapped sailors including Sabbir.
