Paraguay reached global trade of USD 9,324 million in the first quarter

Paraguay registered global trade of USD 9,324 million, from January to April 2024, according to the Foreign Trade report (RCE). Brazil was Paraguay’s main trading partner with a share of 25.4% of global trade.


Big data from the Paraguayan External Sector also indicates that during the first four months of the year, the country exported to a total of 128 countries in the world, five more than in 2023, while it imported from 146 countries, fourteen more than in 2023.

Brazil was Paraguay’s main trading partner during the aforementioned analysis period, with a share of 25.4% of global trade, while Argentina was in second place with 21.5%, then China with 20.3%. %; United States with 5.6% and Chile with 3.7%.

The Southern Common Market was positioned as the main destination for exports, absorbing 72.6% of the total, reports the General Directorate of Trade Policy and Integration, dependent on the Vice Ministry of Economy and Planning.

In the year-on-year analysis as of April, a positive trend is observed in most of the main exported products, although with significant reductions in shipments of certain key products such as corn, broad beans, beans, soybeans and electrical energy.

Among the products with the greatest positive year-on-year variation, rice, insecticides and rodenticides, as well as electricity wires and cables stand out. The five main exported products represent 70.7% of total shipments.
