The Estrella de Mar Awards annually recognize the best theater shows during the summer season in Mar del Plata. This year Andrés Ciro Martínez and his band Ciro y Los Persas won the gold prize, in a ceremony in which the works “Argentina, La Revista” and “Kinky Boots” also stood out as the most awarded shows.
Pampas Bravas, the international artistic show that combines folklore, tango and flamenco, was presented for the first time at the event and won the revelation award of the season. He participated in it Leonardo Gallardo, a Tucumán dancer who has been on the path of folklore for 15 years. “A choreographer from the company contacted me on Instagram. He told me about the contract and I liked it. There are several artists on the team that I have always admired and when they told me that they were there, I liked the proposal even more,” he said in conversation with LA GACETA.
During the season in the city of Buenos Aires, the artist from Santa Cruz shared the stage with renowned artists such as Raúl Lavie, Kike Teruel y Facundo Mazzei. “They are artists who teach you something new every day and every word that comes out of their mouth is to improve either as a dancer or as a person,” he commented.
Gallardo began his career as a dancer at the El Arriero academy and then began to learn other disciplines such as classical and contemporary dance. Later, he ventured into the world of malambo, which allowed him to tour different places such as Saudi Arabia, participating with the Tucumán company “Malambo al 2×4” and Germany with the company “Golden Gauchos”.
On this occasion, he performed for the first time in front of an Argentine audience and it was one of the impulses to think about moving to Buenos Aires and continue growing with Pampas Bravas, which already offered him work.
Regarding the place that dance occupies in his life, he maintained that “it is very important for his life and that his parents taught him to give it the same importance as his studies.” “Dancing, for me, is a way to be happy and by having the support of my family, everything becomes easier,” she said.
In addition to receiving the revelation award, the foundation, which has been in business for 35 years, was also recognized with the award for “best costumes.”
