Palestinian faction movement: Any Israeli attack on Rafah means torpedoing the exchange negotiations

Gaza – A leading source in the Palestinian faction movement warned Israel on Sunday that any military operation it might launch against the city of Rafah in the far south of the Gaza Strip would lead to “torpedoing the exchange negotiations” between the movement and Israel.

Al-Aqsa TV quoted a senior leader in the movement as saying that any ground attack by the Israeli army on the border city of Rafah in the Gaza Strip would mean “torturing the exchange negotiations” regarding the hostages who were detained during the October 7 attack, after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that he had ordered The army is preparing for an operation in the city, which has become the last refuge for more than a million displaced people in the Strip.

Most of the displaced took refuge in Rafah, which borders Egypt, but after the failure of ceasefire talks, Netanyahu said a few days ago that Israeli forces would fight until “clear victory” was achieved.

Netanyahu’s office stated that he ordered the army to develop a plan to evacuate Rafah and eliminate four Palestinian faction movement battalions that he says are deployed there.

The Israeli army ordered civilians to head south before launching previous attacks on cities in the Gaza Strip, but at the present time there is no clear escape and relief agencies say many may die.

The leader of the Palestinian faction movement said, “Netanyahu is trying to evade the entitlements of the exchange deal, by committing genocide and a new humanitarian disaster in Rafah.”

The conflict broke out in Gaza on October 7 after fighters from the Palestinian faction movement attacked towns in Israel, which said they killed about 1,200 people, most of them civilians, and took about 250 hostages to Gaza.

Israel responded with a massive bombing and ground attack, which has so far resulted in the death of 28,000 Palestinians, most of them civilians, according to medical authorities in Gaza.
