Ramallah: Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has instructed the Palestinian envoy to the United Nations to request an emergency session of the UN Security Council to discuss the consequences of Israeli attacks on the central Gaza Strip, media reported.
Abbas is engaged in intense diplomatic efforts with Arab and international stakeholders to convene the emergency session, aimed at addressing the “ongoing Israeli aggression” against the Palestinian people and forcing Israel to comply with resolutions of international legitimacy, the Palestinian official news agency reported.

The deadly conflict between Israel and Gaza-ruling Hamas has killed 36,801 Palestinians and injured 83,680 others since last October, local health officials said in an update on Saturday.
