Palestine requests emergency Arab meeting on Israeli “aggression”

Cairo – Palestine called on Wednesday evening for an emergency meeting of the Arab League regarding the “continued Israeli aggression” against the Palestinians.

This came in a press statement made by Ambassador Muhannad Al-Aklouk, Permanent Representative of the State of Palestine to the League of Arab States in Cairo.

Al-Aklouk explained, “The State of Palestine submitted a request to hold an extraordinary session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the level of permanent delegates, regarding the continuation of the crimes of Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people for the 103rd day.”

As of 17:10 (GMT), the Arab League has not issued a comment regarding the request or the possible date for holding the session.

Palestine’s call comes in light of a widespread Israeli escalation in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, as the Palestinian Ministry of Health announced on Wednesday that the “number of martyrs” shot by Israeli forces in the West Bank since October 7 had risen to 360, coinciding with campaigns of arrests and raids on towns and cities in the West Bank, the most recent of which is a refugee camp. Tulkarm, where 5 Palestinians were killed since Wednesday morning.

In turn, the official Palestinian news agency, Wafa, reported that “3 Palestinians were killed in an Israeli drone strike on a car near Balata camp, east of Nablus.”

In parallel, the Israeli army has been waging a devastating war on Gaza since October 7, which has left, as of Wednesday, “24,448 martyrs and 61,504 wounded,” and has caused the displacement of more than 85 percent (about 1.9 million people) of the Strip’s population, according to Palestinian authorities and the United Nations.
