Pakistani young singer Asher and Nile Wajahat’s song is popular on Spotify

Young Pakistani singer Nihal Naseem, 18, Asher Wajahat, 21, and Nayel Wajahat, 18, composed the song ‘Sadake’ in the style of ‘Qawwali Ki Tarza’, which has been at the top of the Spotify Viral 50 Global Chart for several days.

Although many Pakistani songs have been number one before, the young singer’s song is the first time the song has topped the charts.

Independent Urdu contacted the three young singers to get their reaction on the song’s popularity. It was not possible to contact Nihal Naseem, but there was a detailed discussion with both Asher and Nile brothers.

Asher said about the extraordinary popularity of the song, ‘There was hope and we could only hope.’

Nile said the song has “been more popular than expected, so I’m very happy.”

Asher has seen fame, but this is Nile’s first experience in the limelight, which he says he ‘never wanted.’

According to the duo, they put ‘equal effort’ in the production of the song, but their ‘team has also been fully involved as the song turned out so well.’

Sadke is a boyhood love story

‘Sadake’ is a boyhood love story and the singers have tried to bring it out. The song is actually a blend of Eastern and Western music that tells a small story of a budding love.

Asher said, ‘After a platform like Spotify, your song goes to the regional and global level. Therefore, eastern instruments were also used in it.’

Nile added about this that ‘if the use of Eastern instruments is completely abandoned, our people do not feel connected to it, even if it is an instrument, the Eastern style is our identity.’

The element of Qawwali in charity

On the presence of the Qawwali element in ‘Sadaqe’, Asher said that ‘Harmony’s melody was asking for Qawwali, so whatever happened happened naturally.’

Asher said that it took us many months to prepare this song. Last year (2023) a tune was made in May after which further steps were taken. In which it was also decided to include Nihal Naseem that a girl voice was needed because she was familiar with him, so it was produced together with her.

About the colorful video of the song, Asher said, ‘Colors are good for everyone. Colors are pleasing to the eye. Such videos are not made in Pakistan, so this time I thought to work on it.

About music training, Asher said that he has received training for three years, but the learning process is done daily.

Nile said that ‘big brother never got over the fear of growing up. We both go together in our own style’, but according to Asher, ‘Nile has a lot of advantage of being small in the house.’

Asher had composed the music for the film ‘Parde Mein Rahe Do’ in 2022, then in 2023 his film ‘June’ was released in which he played the title role and now in 2024 his song became popular on Spotify. Where will Asher, who has done so much at the age of 21, be in 25 years? On this he said that he ‘doesn’t take age into account, he thinks about it not.’

Nile said that he was ‘never compared to Asher at home.’

Nile said that ‘I had already told my parents that we are two brothers apart.’

However, on the issue of acting, Nile said that he is not interested, now if something like this untouchable work comes, then it can be seen.

After the success of this song, Asher told the critics that he is grateful to the people for liking the song. ‘People will take criticism when things don’t go well, which they are prepared for.’

“Both are very happy with the fame and success of this song because they both love music and now they have the courage to make more songs, sit in the studio and make new songs,” Nile said.
