Pakistan and Iran announced full restoration of diplomatic relations

After last week’s tensions between Pakistan and Iran, both countries have announced the return of diplomats.

According to a statement issued by the Pakistani Foreign Ministry on Monday, after a telephone conversation between the Foreign Ministers of the two countries, it was decided that the ambassadors of Islamabad and Tehran will be able to return to their positions from January 26.

The joint statement further said that on the invitation of Pakistan’s caretaker foreign minister Jalil Abbas Jilani, his Iranian counterpart Hussain Amir Abdullahian will visit Islamabad on the 29th.

Last Tuesday night, Iran targeted two bases of Baloch militant group Jaish-ul-Adl in Panjgur district of Balochistan province of Pakistan with missiles and drones.

Pakistan strongly protested Iran over the attack, recalling its ambassador from Tehran and barring the Iranian ambassador to Pakistan, who was in his country at the time, from returning to Islamabad for the time being.

A day after the Iranian attack, Pakistan carried out a military operation in Iran’s Sistan-Baluchistan province and targeted the bases of Baloch military organizations.

The Pakistan Army’s Public Relations Department (ISPR) said in a statement that “precision strikes, using color drones, rockets, mines and stand-off weapons, were carried out on the basis of intelligence inputs, during which extensive Great care was taken to avoid damage.’

The statement further said that the hideouts used by the terrorist organizations Balochistan Liberation Army (BRA) and Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) were successfully targeted in an intelligence-based operation codenamed Murgabar. was Sarmchar.’

Pakistan’s Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar cut short his visit to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland and held important meetings of the National Security Committee and the Federal Cabinet on Friday.

Addressing the cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Kakar said that Islamabad will welcome all positive steps taken by Tehran.

Caretaker Federal Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani said in a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Amir Abdullahyan on Friday that Islamabad is ready to work with Tehran on all issues in a spirit of mutual trust and cooperation.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia in a statement on Sunday welcomed the reduction of tension between Pakistan and Iran and the agreement to restore diplomatic relations.
