Villach (OTS) – In the “paddling city” of Villach there will be a lot of paddling at the start of the season: Austria’s largest paddling festival is returning to Lake Faaker See for the third time from May 9th to 12th, 2024. International SUP stars, exciting competitions and a diverse supporting program await participants and fans of all ages and abilities.
International participants and awards
In previous years, the festival attracted more than 500 starters from 20 nations to Lake Faaker See and caused an international stir. THE LAKE ROCKS was even ranked among the 10 best SUP events worldwide. The field of participants will be even larger, more international and more prominent in 2024: Numerous stars of the SUP Alps Trophy racing series and the International Canoe Federation (ICF) have announced their participation, including some of the best paddlers in the world.
Promoting young talent and free testing options
In addition to the top athletes, the organizing team of the Villach Tourism Association is also keen to promote young talent: the races are also open to SUP beginners and participants under the age of 16 can even take part in the races for free. With free entry, a variety of testing options also offer anyone interested the opportunity to try out the trend sport of stand-up paddling.
Diverse racing and supporting program
For four days, Lake Faak and Villach city center will be transformed into an international hotspot for stand-up paddling. In addition to exciting competitions in various classes, including short and long distance races, team competitions and a city race on the Drau, the festival also offers a varied supporting program with live music, SUP yoga, paddling parties and a SUP village with exhibitions and product presentations.
