Indonesia successfully brought home two gold medals and one bronze at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Gold Medal won by Veddriq Leonardo from the men’s speed rock climbing category and Rizki from the men’s 73 kg weightlifting category. Meanwhile, one bronze was won by Gregoria Mariska Tunjung from the women’s singles badminton category.
For Rizki, Rosan admitted that he was very proud of his athlete’s achievement. According to him, the gold medal won by Rizki was inseparable from the hard work done by various parties. He believes that the process that has been carried out so far will not deny the results achieved
“Of course, this result is the hard work of many parties, athletes, coaches, the government, NOC Indonesia, including the Marines who have helped us, facilitated the training, and also the Indonesian people for all their prayers and support for us,” said Rosan in the NOC Indonesia release, Tuesday (13/8/2024).
Rosan also hopes that this brilliant achievement can continue. The 55-year-old man also hopes that Indonesia’s weightlifting can again achieve the best achievement at the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028.
“Pray for us that we can once again record the best achievements at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics,” Rosan hoped.
The gold medal won by Rizki also made history for Indonesian weightlifting. The 21-year-old athlete became the first Indonesian lifter to win a gold medal at the Olympics.
Interestingly, Rizki is a debutant at the Olympics. However, he managed to set a new Olympic record for the clean & jerk by lifting 199 kg.
In addition, Rizki also became the youngest athlete to win a gold medal at the Olympics for Indonesia. This achievement surpassed Susy Susanti who was previously the youngest Indonesian gold medalist at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.
