One of the favorite hitmen Pablo Escobar, who was imprisoned for the death of 107 people, could be free.
This is Dandeny Muñoz Mosquera, also known as “La Quica”.
He was found guilty for the explosion of an Avianca plane in 1989. The plane left from Bogotá and was headed towards Cali, in Colombia when it exploded.
The target of the Medellín cartel was presidential candidate César Gaviria, but he did not board the plane due to a bad feeling.
Mosquera, one of Escobar’s favorite hitmen, was the only one convicted of the attack after being arrested in USA.
A harsh sentence
He received ten life sentences, however local media now report that the FBI is considering reopening the case.
This could result in the guy being released.
This situation occurred after Nicolás Escobar, Pablo’s nephew, did not mention Mosquera in his account of the Medellín cartel’s attack plan.
Now, Mosquera’s defense will present a motion for Habeas corpuswhich requests release against illegal and indefinite imprisonment.
Speaking to local media, Mosquera said: “I never had anything to do with that, I didn’t even know it, I’m telling you honestly.” he said at the time.
“The day I found out that they had put a bomb on a plane was the day they told me that. “They were accusing me of that, I didn’t even have anything to do with it.”
“The people who testified against me were in prison and wanted a benefit to be able to get out of the crimes they had committed,” he added.
“From one moment to the next they fabricated accusations of drug trafficking since 1978. In ’78 I was only 12 years old, other accusations in 1985 I was in Catan doing the military serviceand to do military service you cannot have any criminal record,” he concluded.
