In a statement made by the Öz Sağlık-İş Union, regarding the news “Öz Sağlık-İş member workers were fired from their jobs at the City Hospital in Kayseri”, it was stated that “Neither the worker friends in the photograph used nor the worker friend who made the press statement are members of our Union. By using information that has not been verified in the news, they have both misled the newspaper and given false information to the public.”
The explanation is as follows:
“As you know, our union, Öz Sağlık-İş, is affiliated with the HAK-İŞ Confederation, operates in the health and social services sector, has 85 branches throughout Turkey and is the third largest labor union in Turkey with 211 thousand members, and is the leading union in its sector.
These numerical values increase our responsibilities primarily towards our members, and always remind us of our authorized union obligations towards our non-member health and social service worker brothers and sisters. On August 24, 2024, Evrensel Newspaper published a news article titled “Kayseri City Hospital Workers; We are subject to pressure and mobbing, we are prevented from becoming unionized”, and the content of the news included statements such as the workers were dismissed because they were members of our union Öz Sağlık İş. First of all, the dismissed workers, which saddens us very much, are not members of Öz Sağlık-İş Union. Many of our unions affiliated with the HAK-İŞ Confederation at the City Hospital have separate membership activities in different business lines. The workers whose employment contracts have been terminated are our friends who are members of our Hizmet-İş Union. The press release made to defend the rights of these friends was organized by the Vatan Party Kayseri Provincial Presidency. The issue has nothing to do with unions. However, this was not mentioned in the news, and by using the statement that no one from Öz Sağlık-İş Union participated in the press release, our Union was placed under suspicion, and an attempt was made to give the impression among the workers that our union does not stand up for its members. We do not find these attempts to be correct and well-intentioned.
Neither the worker friends in the photo used nor the worker friend who made the press statement are members of our Union. By using information that has not been verified in the news, they have been misled as a newspaper and have also provided false information to the public. On the other hand, our Service Workers’ Union has made 3 press statements for our friends who work at the city hospital and whose work contracts were terminated, has assigned 9 lawyers to follow up the legal process and has strongly supported the reinstatement lawsuit process. There are many workers who are members of Öz Sağlık-İş at the City Hospital. However, our members continue their work. They have never had any problems with their work contracts. As the Öz Sağlık-İş Union Kayseri Branch Presidency, we continue our struggle to protect and observe all of our members’ financial, legal, personnel and other rights by always being by their side.” – KAYSERI
