Austrian plan by Chancellor Karl Nehammer wants to promote sport on a broad and top level
Vienna (OTS) – “We welcome the 9-point program of Austrian sport for a government program 2024-2029 presented today by Sport Austria as an important mandate for future government work to tackle the issues raised together in a positive way. The ÖVP has proven in this legislative period that it is a committed, competent and reliable partner for sport and will continue to be so in the future,” said ÖVP sports spokesman Christoph Zarits today, Thursday. According to Zarits, this is shown by the Austrian plan presented by Chancellor Karl Nehammer in January, which on the one hand will integrate sport and exercise into the daily lives of all Austrians, and on the other hand will create the best framework conditions for top-class sport in Austria.
To this end, the Austrian Plan – as requested today by Sport Austria – envisages a sports infrastructure offensive in order to create professional framework conditions for organized sports (health, recreational and competitive sports), as well as the comprehensive expansion of the pilot project for daily exercise units throughout Austria to intensify cooperation between schools and clubs. “We are happy to remain available for dialogue with Austrian sport and each individual association in the future. The Austrian People’s Party supports sport in its entire spectrum and wants to bring it even more into the social focus. Because exercise and sport are an essential part in the everyday life of people in Austria and an important health driver as well as an economic factor,” concluded Zarits. (Ending)
