According to him, the people of the communist country were asked to hand over 9.97 kilograms of manure each as an effort by the government to find other alternatives after the country experienced a shortage of agricultural fertilizer.
Normally, North Korean feces would be ‘collected’ in winter for this purpose.
However, Pyongyang is now facing a shortage of imported fertilizer, so Jong-un asked his people to support the country’s efforts to fertilize their own crops using ‘natural’ fertilizer.
Following this directive, residents complained about having to dry their waste in the sun in the summer.
A resident of Ryanggang province said: “The environmental monitoring unit issued an order to drain the sewage. Residents could not hide their confusion.” he said as reported by the Daily Start.
Previously, North Korea sent thousands of hot air balloons filled with human waste across the border to South Korea last May.
Seoul later analyzed samples from 1,500 balloons sent by North Korea and confirmed their contents were strange and disgusting.
The balloons contain trash, Hello Kitty clothes, and parasites from human waste.
