More than 10 people have been injured in the blasting of a grenade thrown into a bar in Grenoble, a city in southeastern France, France reported.
“One man came in, threw a grenade, seemed to say without a word, and then escaped,” prosecutor Francois Toure de Kusi told the spot in front of journalists.
“There is no leading hypothesis at this stage, but we can exclude a purely terrorist attack, since there is nothing that makes us think that it is related to terrorism,” he added.
It is reported that the man was armed with a Kalashnikov machine gun, but this is yet to be established. It is not certain that this Kalashnikov was used.
In the initial assessment, the lesions were caused by the outbreak of the grenade, the prosecutor explained.
There were many clients during the explosion at the restaurant, said Francois Toure de Kusi.
The explosion took place shortly after 20 hours local time in the area of the Olympic village in southern Grenoble.
One of the hypotheses that are being studied is a relationship with drug trafficking, the prosecutor said.
About 10 people have been given medical assistance, BTA reported. Two of them were seriously injured, though their injuries are not life -threatening, he said.
