During the opening of the Olympic Games
Great indignation has been caused worldwide by the fact that some ‘drag queens’ represent as a Parody of Da Vinci’s ‘The Last Supper’ during the opening ceremony of the JParis 2024 Olympic Games.
In one of the ceremony’s many performances, France used several drag queens to represent Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper, a work that emulates, precisely, the last time Christ sat down to dine with his apostles.
As expected, the image quickly went viral, unleashing a wave of indignation, as it violates religious sentiment.

This event took place at the end of the parade, after the athletes had already reached the end of the route, on the Place du Trocadero, after travelling six kilometres by boat.
At one of the opening performances of the Games, several drag queens and other artists appeared to represent the work of the legendary Italian artist. Da Vinci was present not only for this reason, but also his most iconic painting, La Gioconda, had its place. However, this was the most talked about event of all those that took place in a ceremony that was also hosted by several artists, led by Lady Gaga.
The athletes did not enjoy themselves because the public was far away and because there was no plan B to avoid the downpour that fell during the afternoon. Paris wanted to sell itself as a tourist destination to the world and perhaps the postcard that everyone took away was that it is not so far from London, a city pigeonholed as rainy.
