The power outage is recorded on Elvia’s power outage map.

1438 customers are without electricity, according to the map just before 6.30pm on Saturday evening.

Morten Schau, head of communications at Elvia, confirms the power outage at VG.

According to him the blackout extends from Briskeby to Fagerborg.

– A total of 1,527 customers are affected. The violation occurred at 5:52 p.m. We have teams on site and we have a good chance of changeover there, it probably won’t take long, maybe within half an hour, the communications manager tells VG.

Elvia now sends SMS to all interested customers. Ullensaker, Gjerdrum and Nannestad are also affected.

– It’s been just under 40 minutes and the people of Oslo are so patient, says Schau.

The cause of the power outage is unknown.

Power outages are not the only problem in the Siberian cold. Plumbers battle both time and cold to help homes where pipes are frozen.

Torfinn Hoffart (61) and partner Astrid Eggesvik (53) braced themselves for the cold on the best west side of the Odins Gate in Frogner.

– The power went out about 20 minutes ago. We see on Elvia that there are some areas on Frogner without electricity. This morning the water was ice cold, but we managed it ourselves with the heater and the hairdryer, laughs the couple.

They bought firewood and sought shelter under a duvet in their living room. Dinner was not ruined:

– We had Finn beef stew, it was very good. We’re good, we’re full and we’re warm and we’re sitting here in the living room with a duvet and a fireplace. Let’s wait for the Siberian cold to be felt inside too.

The power outage does not worry them significantly.

– We have already been outside on a winter’s day, so to speak. We are ready for this. But it was a little surprising that the current continued, Hoffart says.

By 7pm the tone wasn’t quite as optimistic.

– Here there are older apartments, so the internal temperature decreases even if the fireplace is lit. Then there will be some woolen clothes in the bed, Hoffart says in a text message.
