OSEFPE / Fierce attack on Vakakis of Jumbo

‘He’s still paying his workers starvation wages’ – Outcry over proposal to open shops every Sunday

With a hard announcement the Federation of Trade and Services Workers’ Unions (OSEPE) release aggravated assault on Jumbo’s ownerApostolos Vakakis, who speaking at the general meeting of shareholders requested that the shops remain open on all Sundays and holidays of the year.

OSEFPE in its announcement states that in its Jumbo Apostolo Vakakis“despite distributing hundreds of millions in profits to its shareholders, still pays its workers starvation wagesi.e. with the minimum wage limits”.

At the same time, the Federation complains that “rights and salary benefits related to the family are not taken for granted at Jumbo, while there are not a few employee complaints that we manage every day in relation to overflowing working hours and the flexibility of labor relations”.

OSEPE is calling the owner of Jumbo to set aside proposals for 7-day work and “if he really cares about the interest and the pocket of consumers as he claims, to respect collective and individual rights of his staff, not to fight the establishment of a union and the signing of a collective labor agreement in the workplace, to give brave increases to the wages of his thousands of “associates” (as he is wont to call the workers), increases to match Jumbo’s super-profitability, to pay what is stipulated in the National General Collective Labor Agreement marriage allowance».

And the announcement ends with the phrase “But greed and gluttony never made anyone happy anywhere. Let Mr. Vakakis and his ilk stop this.”
