Los Angeles: Oscar organizers plan to increase security to prevent protesters from disrupting the 96th Academy Awards ceremony. Speaking about the anti-Gaza war, a senior security official working at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences said, “We are well aware of the protesters, we have several backup scenarios that we can activate immediately if needed ” Protesters are expected to gather around Hollywood and Highland. A meeting of pro-Palestinian and pro-ceasefire groups that was scheduled to take place on Sunday declaring “no rewards for genocide” has now been called off, Deadline.com reports.

“We will not let people turn a blind eye to the atrocities in Gaza. We are taking action and making sure Palestine will not be ignored for the sake of some glitter,” Film Workers for Palestine and SAG-FTRA for Ceasefire said earlier this week, in response to their self-described “Oscars Had said before “Action on Sunday”.
