Organized grand Iftar at Indo-Bangla Press Club – 2024-04-09 12:55:10

Indo-Bangla Press Club of Kolkata organized a grand Iftar party. People from different walks of life attended this Iftar party at the elite Spring Club near EM Bypass in Kolkata on Sunday (April 7) evening.

The iftar party under the title ‘Maintain the harmony of Bengal by the hands of Bengali’ was attended by Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament and CPIM leader Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya, educationist Pavrit Sarkar, Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner in Kolkata Andalib Ilyas, Mission’s First Secretary (Press) Ranjan Sen, Consul of the Mission ( Counselor) Almas Hossain.

Tridiv Bhattacharya, President of Kolkata Booksellers Guild, Musician Saikat Mitra, Snehashis Sur, President of Kolkata Press Club, Rupak Barua, CEO of Private Hospital (AMRI), ED Advocate Arijit Chakraborty, Manotosh Sarkar, one of the members of Free School Street Traders Association, Free School Street Traders were also present in this event. Association President Monotosh Kumar Saha Jadavpur University Professor Prof. Eamon Kalyan Lahiri, Culinary Expert Naina Afroz and others.

However, music artist Kabir Suman was scheduled to come but could not attend due to physical illness. However, he sent a message wishing to be by his side. Also representatives of Biman Bangladesh, Sonali Bank were present in this Iftar.

This day’s iftar was organized in the style of Kolkata. Dates, Watermelon, Bangi, Grapes, Muri, Pianju, Potato Chop, Violet. Then the dinner consisted of rice, pulses, vegetables, fish, meat, sweets and various fruit juices.

Basically various press clubs of Kolkata do not organize Iftar even though they do other events. As a result, people from all walks of life were interested in Indo Bangla Press Club Iftar. Last time it was done on a small scale but the presence of people got a huge response. And that’s why Indo Bangla Press Club, an organization of Indian representatives of Bangladeshi media organized this Iftar party on a large scale this year.

Welcoming this initiative of the club, the holy government said, if this principle of religion for people is not accepted, then these activities become very important. This iftar party is organized here inviting people of all religions which is amazing. Eating and drinking is one of the basic things in our life, without eating and drinking there is nothing. Naturally, being able to eat and drink together with friends around is a big deal. This is mentioned in all religions including Islam.

Andalib Elias, Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Kolkata, said, “Religion is everyone’s festival.” The universal celebratory atmosphere created during Iftar is extraordinary and occurs all over the world. But seeing the Iftar organized by the Indo Bangla Press Club filled my heart as always.
