The Angolan Association of Internet Service Providers, AAPSI, met on Tuesday in Luanda with its members to discuss issues linked to the prices of telecommunications services in Angola, a necessary tool to boost digital inclusion in Angola.
The Meeting organized by AAPSI, had the participation of operators of associated telecommunications services, who concluded that high prices for international calls are one of the main components of the service price structure, thus conditioning the expansion of broadband and digital inclusion in Angola.
According to SÃlvio Almada President of AAPSI, this meeting was an important milestone, as it aims, on the one hand, to find a common platform in order to defend the interests of operators and, on the other hand, to jointly propose solutions that make it possible to achieve the much desired mass use of telecommunications services, digital inclusion and the expansion of broadband in the country.
According to the operators present, the prices currently charged in Angola have a negative impact on operational costs, the quality of services provided by operators and the entire digital inclusion strategy.
As a resolution of the meeting, the operators deliberated on the preparation and submission of a proposal with concrete objectives, in order to support the executive in finding appropriate solutions that enable digital inclusion and, in parallel, the sustainability of telecommunications operators’ businesses. .
