On the eve of the first anniversary of the January 8 coups, the STF (Federal Supreme Court) plans to spend around R$5.3 million to improve the building’s security system. Tenders were opened last month to purchase goods and carry out works with the aim of leaving the court and ministers less vulnerable to possible new attacks.
Among the five items relating to the increase in security at the Supreme Court, the most expensive is represented by the work to adapt the detection, alarm and fire prevention system. According to the notice, the maximum amount to be spent on hiring is R$ 3,773,658.08. Applications from interested companies opened on November 29, but the selection process has not yet been completed.
The STF also intends to spend up to R$ 1,007,685.04 for the purchase of social and operational uniforms for the Judicial Police. Items for sale include shirts, jackets, trousers, ties, socks, shoes, women’s tights, T-shirts, caps, boots and badges.
